How to measure your Ideal Pet

To determine the correct size door, simply measure the width (A) and height (B) of your pet.

(A) Measure the widest point of your pet's shoulder.

(B) Measure from the top of your pet's back (just behind their head) to the bottom of chest.

Pet door models have different size openings. Just make sure your new pet door's opening is both wider and taller than your pet's measurements to ensure they can comfortably pass through.

    Hinge replacement

Posted by Jay on 30th Nov 2019

The hinges wore out on my pet door. The hinge replacement kit was easy to install. The door is still as good as it was when it was brand new! No problems.

    What a painful experience.

Posted by Deb on 25th Oct 2019

I would not make this purchase again. It was extremely difficult to get the screws loosened in the panels. I finally got them to move but had to completely remove all four screws and pry really hard to get the panels to separate enough to get the old hinges out. Just a little tip: if you have any WD 40 spray it on the edge of the new hinge. It will make it slide in much more easily. Reassembly was a breeze compared to getting it apart. In the future, I will buy the entire replacement panels rather than trying to replace the hinges. I didn’t crack or break any of the plastic panels but I did gouge the h-e-double toothpicks out of the edges. Happy to be done with this project!!!

    Great Customer Service

Posted by satisfied customer on 10th Jun 2019

After order got lost in mail (waited a week for arrival), I called customer service, had very nice conversation and the replacement order arrived quickly. Product was as described. Install was simple enough with screwdrivers. It was removal of the old hinges that created a problem; they were really stuck in there (after years of being weathered).

This is impossible to use! Several people have tried to no avail! I will now look for a different brand of pet doors to use!!

    You Try It !

Posted by Jack D. on 24th May 2019

Thank You. I requested rubber hinges separating the clear door sections. Received, and installed. However, the challenge of replacing the old ones is not as simple as the instruction implies. You try it. I recommend a tooling change, well placed shutoff slots in the clear molding side walls that will allow a screwdriver to be inserted and pry open the clear halves. The air tight feature of the plastic assembly would stay intact. This would remove the need to work with a razor. My unit was stuck together. The razor plan didn't work. Needed to pry pieces apart with a chisel. Happy to discuss. Also recommend researching a new more durable hinge material.

    Hard to replace

We found it difficult to get the new seals on one corner in both pieces. Wished we had just replaced the whole door

Hinges work perfectly, installation a challenge

Posted by David on 27th Feb 2019

The hinges and instructions were easy to read as well as removing the flap to begin. Now that’s when this project becomes a bit frustrating. After removing the screws the old hinges wouldn’t slide out. It looks like when my door was assembled at the manufacturer each individual portion was glued together. With time, effort, a butter knife, and a long skinny screwdriver I was eventually able to fully disassemble the existing flap. Cutting the new hinge material to fit was simple as well as re assembling and reinstalling. The dog door is fully repaired and works fantastic. Just be ready in case your door portions are glued together as well.
