Set of two (2) Replacement Hinges for the UltraFlex or AirSeal flap style
Hinge Strips are 15 3/4" long and are suitable for Small, Medium or Extra Large flap sizes.
Replaces existing white strip or black strip on flaps with 2 screws or 4 screws per panel.
To determine the correct size door, simply measure the width (A) and height (B) of your pet.
(A) Measure the widest point of your pet's shoulder.
(B) Measure from the top of your pet's back (just behind their head) to the bottom of chest.
Pet door models have different size openings. Just make sure your new pet door's opening is both wider and taller than your pet's measurements to ensure they can comfortably pass through.

Extremely Difficult to Install
I rated these so low because they are so difficult to install. It's almost not worth the trouble. Next time my hinges wear out, I would rather purchase a new door.

Works well but can be hard to install
The hinges arrived quickly but was not that easy to install. Instructions were good, however my pet door was installed several years ago so it was very hard to separate the plastic so you can slide the new rubber hinge in. The plastic even cracked in a couple of places but I was able to still use it. The door works great.

Hinge Strips
Received very quickly, was easy to install and worked great

Excellent
The hinge strips were exactly as ordered. Not as easily installed as the directions indicated, but worked out well. I have the medium size door and there is enough to use a second time.

Great option, but hard to install.
It's nice to have the option to replace just the rubber hinges rather than the entire flap. In my case, however, they were very hard to install. The instructions said to gently open the plastic in order to slide in the rubber hinge. The plastic on my flap did not open easily. I had to crack the plastic in a couple of places in order to get it open enough to get the rubber hinge in. It could be that my flap is old and beat up and maybe a newer flap would be easier to install. I'm very happy with the doggy door in general, but the time and effort needed to replace the hinges was frustrating. If I need to replace the hinges again, I'll buy the entire flap rather than just the hinges.

Not intended for 'Old Style' flex door
These black hinge sections are only designed to replace black hinges from new screw-together door style. My older door was clamshell-glued and has a different white vinyl rubber hinge section that's smaller. I replaced the white sections once 5 years ago after about 5 years of use. Now, Ideal has changed their design and has discontinued the white replacement hinges for the older door design. I called customer service and was delighted when the representative offered to replace the whole door assembly for free! this level of customer service is unprecedented and greatly appreciated.

Disappointed in Ideal Pet Products
I am disappointed that the original rubber "hinges" on the dog door only lasted 15 months. And on top of this, two small pieces of 'I' shaped rubber cost $15.00 plus almost $3 for shipping. And they still hasn't arrived. If I could go back in time, I would never have bought this dog door, it cost almost $80.00 at Home Depot. I WOULD NOT recommend buying products from this company. Their products are NOT Ideal. We aim for 100% customer satisfaction. Please call us toll free at 1-800-378-4385 and allow us to resolve the problem.

Replacement Strips
I was able to easily install these replacement strips. The only thing I could have used were some tips on how to get the plastic pieces apart because I cracked a piece (my bad). My doggy door looks like new and operates like new.

Seems strong
It's hard to immediately review a repair part that's designed to last a long time, and for which there is no alternative. However, assuming the rubber strips are identical to the originals, I have to say, with three big active dogs, I'm impressed they lasted more than 2.5 years. As for the repair, it would be better if the instructions included a warning to go slow when separating the panels, since they are also glued together in most spots. Also, the magnets in the lower two panels will fall out, and will need to be set back in the frame properly in order for the panels to seal properly again. There were red lines marked on the magnets on the side that is supposed to face inward. I also don't know if gluing them back together is a good idea. Just don't strip the screws! The original rubber strips seemed to have too much glue on them, which probably didn't allow them to flex normally. I didn't glue the sides along the hinges, but I did use a very small amount on the side seams, right next to the screws. I'm betting moisture might be an issue moving forward, but only time will tell.
