Plastic-Replacement Magnet Retainer Bar

Flap was blowing as the old magnet strip was worn out. New strip installed and it's ok again. Good idea to get a totally new gate.

I tried calling the company twice during my lunch hour but didn’t get through. So I emailed them at their listed customer service email address and inquired about a broken part on our pet door that magnetically holds the flap in place. I emailed them three times and have yet to receive any response. So as a last resort to get the replacement part without having to replace the entire door I ordered 3 sizes of the part based only on description because they don’t include measurements on the website for their parts. We got them two days ago and none of them match nor fit our Ideal Products pet door that is probably about 12 years old and only needs this one small part replaced. I’ll be returning them back for credit and seeking assistance elsewhere.

LOVE the pet door and have had it for over 15 years. Couldn't survive without it. I just wish I had read more closely and not ordered this part since it is included with the new frame I also ordered. LOL. Too much trouble to return it. Great products!

The magnet retainer bar fit perfect and was exactly what I needed EXCEPT I didn't notice till I went to put it in that the prongs to hold it in place were all broken. I improvised and super glued it in the track but now the magnets don't grab the flap. My fault not Ideal Pet, but guess I need to order a whole inside frame (with bar included instead) so it was kind of a waste of money.

Our door is the old style "large" with a 9 X 15 flap and the magnet bar was 10 1/2 in long. Plus, the bar on our door was not replaceable but molded into the frame. I was able to remove the top of the old bar and fit the new bar inside the remnants, then hot glue it in place. One mistake I made was that in shortening the new bar, I cut off a magnet. I should have removed that magnet and fitted it into the new bar before gluing it in place. Sound like you have an old style large and were sent a new style extra large. I called three times to speak with the parts Person that could help me identify my need. Each time they were not available. I left my name Number and invoice number each time. I should have been called back the first time. Never did speak with the unavailable person.

The original lasted about 10 years, which is a testament in and of itself to the overall quality of the pet door, and $3 is a very reasonable replacement cost. Snapped into place with no problem, door is back to working 100%.

I had ordered a few of the retainer bars not knowing that there were old and new.The company took upon it themselves to send me the correct one after all I went thru.Thank you so much

My old magnetic bar got worn away from the door being out of adjustment. Eventually it hung on the door and was pulled out and broken. I received this new one and it fit perfectly in the slot where the old one had been. Unfortunately the retaining tabs were broken off my door and so the new magnetic bar wouldn't stay in place. I fixed in place with epoxy adhesive and it has been working fine.
