To determine the correct size door, simply measure the width (A) and height (B) of your pet.
(A) Measure the widest point of your pet's shoulder.
(B) Measure from the top of your pet's back (just behind their head) to the bottom of chest.
Pet door models have different size openings. Just make sure your new pet door's opening is both wider and taller than your pet's measurements to ensure they can comfortably pass through.

Average
This took forever to install. The screws they included in the kit were too long and there was a gap in between the door and the wall. Had to buy shorter screws and now it is fine

A must!!
Contractor had no issues with this unit for an easy install.

Careful not to break too much off
I originally thought this piece was supposed to lie behind/under the door but it rests inside it. I ordered the first one and found that I broke too much off and had to order a second one. The parts that are designed to break off are actually pretty hard to break off and it tkaes about 20 mins to slowly bend them and break them to you dont have any sharp corners and the perforated parts go around corners that are especially thick and difficult to cut around The walls are pretty thin as well and within the giant hole I cut out in my wall I have a small bundle of wires that presses up against the wall causing it to bulge slightly which in turn causes the flap to get stuck on it. The original door comes with screws that are too short to connect a standard home wall and this extension kit comes with screws that are too long so you can expect to have to grind off about 1-3 inches from the screw. It seems like a nice idea but not I have 2 small holes on the outside where the screws punched through because the plastic is thin around that area. if you plan ahead and cut the bolts, tie everything down behind the door, and measure several times This could be a great product but I think it was an afterthought and they send extra long bolts for seemingly no reason.

Better Wall extension than old one
The old extension kit was not built as solid as this one. Very easy to install. Make sure that you frame out the bottom of the wall for stability. I even glued indoor outdoor carpet on the floor of it to stop my fur babies from slipping as they like to run through it. Worked very well for me and the dogs.

Excellent quality
More than I expected. Very well made and durable. I have a super large dog who runs thru full speed so I needed a tough dog door. Absolutely no air escapes but is still easy enough to open for my small cat to go thru. Very pleased

My life made easier
I have a 3 year old and a 4 month old Doberman Pinscher. He is 120 lbs. It took him about 4-5 days to figure the door out. Then he taught the puppy. It’s awesome. No kidding.

Not a good fit
Viewed all install videos & followed instructions provided. Kit fit on 3 of 4 corners. Everything squared, lined up, and flush to the inner frame. But the inside lower right corner had a 1/4" gap that ran all the way to the top of the liner and would hang up the inner flap. Emailed help and got a quick response with "advise", which was to view the video's and follow the instructions provided. Wrote back and repeated that I had done all that. Next response was "No further advise than what I sent before". I guess there is no possibility of a defect in manufacturing with Ideal. Removed the plastic liner and replaced it with 1/8" birch panel. So much for a easy install. I would return the wall liner but the 9" X 1/4" thru bolts are still in use
